Friends Forever Adventures

Alexandra Tanner and her Navajo classmate, Skylyn Eaglefeather, are young teens who have been pals from first grade to junior high. Traditional celebrations abound on the Tanner and Eaglefeather ranches, where their life in Colorado is one of outdoor exploration with a lot of family fun and some real-life situations mixed in.

Come travel along with Alex's family and her beloved grandfather on their vacation in Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park. They find it a fabulous place to see the wild animals that call it home.

Be there at a day-long "bear jam" with Alex and her twin brothers, Tyler and Chandler, who marvel at the sight of a black bear snoozing after his breakfast. The boys are in awe of a mama Shiras moose grazing behind their cabin, but it is her five-month-old calf that captures their sister's heart when he welcomes newcomers to his sheltered glen. A stately elk pays a surprise visit, wanting to show off the dangling vegetation adorning his magnificent antlers. Groans of relief echo across the dell when several nine-hundred-pound bison take turns rolling in a favorite dust bowl.

Gramp is no stranger to Grand Teton National Park. His family revels in an early evening float trip down the Snake River to quietly observe a variety of creatures at dinner.

Neither Skylyn, her sister, Raven Lee, nor Alex and her brothers are afraid of a challenge. Both families are grateful for Gramp Tanner's Christmas gift, dog-sledding in the Rocky Mountains on a cobalt-blue day. Each takes a turn to ride behind a string of eight beautiful Huskies - who love to be in charge!

Horses for the Handicapped absorbs Skylyn's and Alex's energies as they plan an electrifying Halloween event for the students. Their creative ideas add excitement to Hopewell Farms' therapeutic riding classes.

Marilyn Martin was a teacher for eleven years. Her writing draws upon a deep love of the West, and her own American Indian ancestral background has led her to investigate the life and culture of the ancient Amerinds upon which she bases much of her writing.
